Looking for ways to whiten your teeth without using harsh chemicals or treatments? Then look no further! I have 2 recipes that I will share with you that can help you achieve some pearly whites :)
The first recipe uses activated charcoal. Activated charcoal comes from natural sources, like coconut shells, bamboo or olive pits. There are even youtube videos to show you how to make your own! I stuck with purchasing mine from an organic store online - health food stores and vitamin shops are also stocked with activated charcoal in pill form. This stuff is used primarily to bind toxins from the stomach and remove them from your body. However, when used as a teeth whitener, it absorbs the plaque stuck on your teeth and also changes the pH level in the mouth which prevents cavities, gum disease and bad breath. It has been tested on pregnant and lactating women and is proven to be fine to use.
The second recipe involves baking soda, lemon and hydrogen peroxide. All three of these ingredients have anti-septic properties and are great for oral health care as well all three are regarded by the American Dental Association as healthy practice for oral hygiene. However, use carefully as it is known to affect the enamel on your teeth. I would suggest doing this only 1 time a week until you reach your desired results and then continue to do this once a month. It might also cause tooth sensitivity for people sensitive teeth to begin with.
Mix in a small bowl and brush your teeth for 2 minutes. Your mouth will be completely black.
Rinse with water continuously until mouth is clean.
*The activated charcoal can stain grout and your clothing so be careful and keep away from children.
Mix together in a small dish and brush onto teeth for one minute.
Rinse and repeat weekly until desired results. Then continue once a month.
