While living in Germany, my husband and I found the best Cajun seasoning. We used it sparingly because we apparently bought the last one in the country as we couldn't find it anywhere else. We just ran out last week. So I took it upon myself to come up with my own recipe. Making your own spice-blend is cost effective and eliminates chemical additives that end up in most brands that you buy at the grocery store. You could even go a step further and buy fresh herbs and dehydrate them in a dehydrator and blend in a food processor. (Adding now to my "to-do" list).
1/4 C smoked paprika
4 Tbsp garlic powder
2 Tbsp dehydrated lime (you can find it here)
2 Tbsp Himalayan Sea salt
1 Tbsp onion powder
2 tsp cayenne pepper (you can add more or less, depending on what you like).
1. Mix until spices are blended evenly. Store in a air-tight container for up to one year.
